Eco-tanned wool shearlings on deadstock wool tweed & cotton canvas
The frame, circa 1950 has been refreshed to remove the ‘wear & tear if its service. The rubbed finish leaves a hint of the surplus green and we’ve added brass hardware to give contrast and an elevated feel which also honors the cot’s history.

We created a new, strong canvas base (to replace the original threadbare canvas) upon which we have added a rich ivory wool tweed woven with flecks of rose and sand colored wool. Eco-tanned wool shearlings, from a small farm in Gotland Sweden have been appliquéd onto the tweed, traveling across the surface as their shape allows, dropping off the sides at times and wrapping around the cot frame.

The natural curl and wildness of the shearling is celebrated — giving the impression that the wool is simply tossed onto the cot.
The shearling is edged in deadstock Ses Petites Mains striped bias binding to give a clean finish and also create a distinct division between the materials. The resulting highs and lows feel like cartography; the mix of materials create a range of elevations; and the varying textiles create depth, texture, and tactile interest.

A bed of luxury--sustainable, enduring, beautiful and wild--the Wool Gathering Vintage Army Cot #91 is Luxury Reimagined, healing, chic and unbelievably comfortable.
